A series of single-page references on planning, records, delay analysis and the parts of a programme that get argued about.

A datum is the fixed point everything else is measured from. Get it wrong and every level taken afterwards is wrong with it, and nobody notices until the concrete is poured. The same is true of the ideas underneath a programme. Most planning arguments are not disagreements about the facts. They are two people measuring from different points.

Each sheet takes one of those points and settles it on a single page. What the term actually means, where it comes from in the contract, what it looks like on a real programme, and what goes wrong when it is taken for granted. One page, because anything longer does not get read on a site.

They are written for engineers who already have the software and have not yet had anyone explain the thinking, and for anyone senior who wants something short to hand to a junior instead of explaining it again.

Each sheet will be a single A4 page, downloadable at no cost and open to circulate. If you want to use one for internal training or hand it round a site team, that is what it is for.
